Alternate Title: WEEK THREE OF MARATHON TRAINING!!!

SummerTrainingPlan

Last week was an interesting week. It started off with an evening trip to Walt Disney World to go for a run with some Twitter friends and ended with my first ever case of shin splints. At least I ended up with a free pair of running shoes for the severely painful experience of my first ever track workout. I still haven’t the chance to elaborate about my marathon training plan and I will hopefully be able to get to that this week.

Last Week’s Workouts:

  • Monday, 7/16/2012 – Easy Run (4+ miles)
    • 4.67 miles, 1:07:37 (total time), 14:27 avg. pace, 153 BPM avg. HR

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting some of my Twitter friends at Walt Disney World for dinner and a run. I have never just gone for a run at Disney. I am usually there for a day trip to the parks or for a race weekend. It was nice to meet some online friends in real life, eat a new restaurant and literally run around one of my favorite places in the world.

  • Tuesday, 7/17/2012 – Rest Day

Because I left work a little early yesterday to have fun at Disney, I ended up staying super late tonight at work. By the time I left, it was too late to work out. I have an issue with working out after 9 pm because it usually means I will be up until midnight or later. Not so much fun when I have to be to work the next day.

  • Wednesday, 7/18/2012 – Strength Training
    • NTC Workout – Perfect Score (30 minutes)

I had a 2 mile tempo run on the schedule for this evening but decided to do the NTC workout from last night instead. I had a super early morning and wanted to have some what fresh legs because I had no idea what to expect. The Perfect Score was a tough workout and really worked my entire body. Plank Row to Rotation is a wicked tough exercise.

  • Thursday, 7/19/2012 – Speedwork Run (1+ miles)

1118

I woke up this morning around 5 for a special experience. I am a Fit2Run Store Ambassador and was asked to participate in a photo shoot for an upcoming adverting campaign. Each of us was given a different shoe to wear to showcase the brands carried in the stores. The photo shoot was held at a local school track and all of the pictures were action shots and required sprinting. Since I haven’t done a track workout of any kind since the Wine and Dine Meet Up and Eat Up Event in October, I pushed myself way too hard. I don’t think it helped any that the other seven people were so much faster than I am and I needed to keep up for the pictures to come out right. I ended up paying the price by getting my first ever case of shin splints. OUCH!! I did get to keep the shoes though!

  • Friday, 7/20/2012 – Rest Day

1120

When I woke up this morning, I knew I wasn’t going to be running today. The shin splints I earned yesterday during the photo shoot were still raging and it was quite painful to even walk up the stairs at work. I did meet Megan for lunch at a local Korean place. We both got lunch boxes and had a great time talking about how our week went.

  • Saturday, 7/21/2012 – Rest Day

I woke up this morning late for yoga and too late for a run. I was a little disappointed but decided that maybe my body needed another day off to catch up on some much needed sleep. My stress level has definitely been higher than normal lately with everything going on in my life. I have quite a few big changes happening in my life over the next few months.

  • Sunday, 7/22/2012 – Strength Training
    • NTC Workout – Endurance Master (45 minutes)

I decided to end the weekend on high note by doing the workout on my training plan. The Endurance Master NTC workout was another tough one! It definitely got my heart rate up with the wood chops and mountain climbers. After my workout, I got cleaned up and ready to go to the movies. My boyfriend and I watched the new Batman movie, Dark Knight Rises. It was awesome and I highly recommend it if you like the new Batman movies.

Last Week’s Totals:

  • Running – 5.67 miles
  • Cross Training – 0 workouts
  • Strength Training – 2 workouts (75 minutes)
  • Yoga – 0 classes

How did your workouts go last week?
