Marathon-Training-Plan

My workouts last week went really well. I didn’t quite hit my mileage goal but I did run 4 times, which is definitely an achievement for me. Over the last few months, I have felt really overwhelmed with everything going on in my life. The biggest stressor for me was the professional engineering exam that I took on Friday (as in a few days ago). On Monday, I decided that I wasn’t nearly as ready as I wanted to be so I decided to take the week off of work to study and prepare for it. Seriously, I felt like my professional career is riding on whether or not I pass that test. I used my workouts last week as a way to take breaks during my studying and they really helped.

Last Week’s Workouts:

  • Monday, 10/22/2012 – Easy Run (6+ miles)
    • 6.15 miles, 1:14:49 (total time), 12:10 min/mile avg. pace

Even though I had decided to take the week off from work to study, I wasn’t going to let that get in the way of my workouts. I wasn’t actually supposed to run today but since I didn’t run yesterday I really needed and WANTED to log some miles. Even my Nike+ GPS SportWatch wanted me to run today! Smile  My boyfriend and I headed to the gym before lunch so we could get our fitness on. (I love having a guaranteed workout buddy when I want one!) While he did his thing, I hoped on the treadmill and busted out 6 miles! I think that is probably my longest run ever on the ‘mill! Of course, it is so much easier when the treadmills don’t kick me off after 60 minutes. I took it nice and easy so that I wouldn’t need to take any walk breaks.

  • Tuesday, 10/23/2012 – Easy Run (3 miles) + Strength Training
    • 3.00 miles, 38:01 minutes, 12:38 min/mile avg. pace
    • Nike Training Club – Total Adrenaline (14 minutes)

My schedule for this week is all out of whack so I wanted to make sure I logged as many miles as I could whenever I could. Instead of getting on the stationary bike or elliptical, I got on the treadmill and did an easy 3 mile run. My legs were a little stiff during the first mile but they loosened up nicely for the last two. After my run, I headed upstairs to the group class area. It was empty, which means I was able to do one of my NTC workouts without feeling weird about it. Now I just need to figure out how to not accidentally press the end button while I am moving my phone in and out of my pocket …

  • Wednesday, 10/24/2012 – Rest Study Day

Today was my last real day of studying. I was really stressing out so I decided to skip the gym and study all day instead.

  • Thursday, 10/25/2012 – Easy Run (2 miles) + Walking (1 mile)
    • 2.07 miles, 26:17 minutes, 12:41 min/mile avg. pace
    • Walking – 1.00 mile, 20:00 minutes

On the day before one of the biggest exams of my career, I needed to go for a run! I was hoping for another 6 mile but my legs were shot. My NTC workout involved some walking lunges, which really worked my legs a lot more than I thought they would. After 2 miles, I couldn’t go anymore so I walked an easy mile before calling it quits.

  • Friday, 10/26/2012 – Rest Exam Day

After an 8 hour professional engineering exam, my brain was fried!

  • Saturday, 10/27/2012 – Easy Run (6 miles)
    • 6.00 miles, 1:15:42 (total time), 12:38 min/mile avg. pace

Can I just say that the weather was absolutely gorgeous for my ZOOMA Florida Kick Off Fun Run this morning! All of the ladies that joined Mary and I were absolutely fabulous! I will have a full recap of the event ready for you guys later this week. I will say that it was a fabulous morning and I felt really good during the 6 mile run, which was done without stopping. I think that being finished with my exam really lifted a weight off of my shoulders.

  • Sunday, 10/28/2012 – Rest Day

Today, I was a slug and it felt great. Without having a test to study for anymore, I just relaxed all day long. I starting writing a few blog posts and watched a whole bunch of movies with my boyfriend. It was a very slow and relaxing day.

Last Week’s Workout Totals:

  • Running – 17.00 miles
  • Cross Training – 1 workout (20 minutes)
  • Strength Training – 1 workout (14 minutes)
  • Yoga – 0 classes

How did your workouts go last week?
